False Start

The planned move back to our shiny refurbished club premesis has taken a turn for the worst with an administrative delay (entirely out of our hands) which means that once again, West Buckland School has come to our rescue to host this months meeting.  A huge thanks to them for putting up with us again!

The refurb of our regular premesis is complete.  The next meeting will be held on the 7th May.

On behalf of the society I'd like to extend our thanks to West Buckland School for hosting our meetings while the works were underway.

Messier Marathon

Last nights NDAS Messier Marathon was a good night for all this year, despite some fairly ropey skies at times.  Mark Buckingham had the best of the night, bagging 66 objects with his 12" Newtonian, along with some other galaxies - well done Mark!  He didn't get his record but the sky wasn't on his side with bouts of high cloud that seemed to pop in whenever any of us was closing on an object.  Rain stopped play at about 2:30am.

Thanks to all that helped the "noob" (me!) to find a few objects - I'm off to buy a right angled finder today!  Hopefully it'll arrive as soon as the crick in my neck settles down..

Finally, a huge Thank You to our host Erica McClenaghan, NDAS member Tom's wife, who provided warmth, intelligent company and sustenance (excellent food!) for all attendees and the very best anyone could hope for in a host.
